HMD Asha 305 Launched at $65 – Coming to Pakistan Soon?

HMD has brought back a name many Pakistani phone users grew up with. The Asha 305 has just launched, and it comes with something almost no modern phone offers anymore: a removable battery. Here is everything confirmed so far, and whether Pakistani buyers can expect to see it locally.

What Is the HMD Asha 305

The HMD Asha 305 is being marketed as a “lite smartphone,” sitting between a basic feature phone and a full Android smartphone. It is not meant to compete with mid-range or flagship devices. Instead, it targets people upgrading from an old keypad phone who want basic smart features without paying full smartphone prices.

The phone runs Pulse OS, a lightweight system based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and comes preloaded with access to more than 100 selected apps, including lighter versions of Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, along with full WhatsApp and YouTube access.

Where Has It Launched and What Does It Cost

The Asha 305 has officially launched in the Philippines, priced at PHP 3,990, which converts to roughly $65. HMD has stated that the phone could expand to additional markets in the coming weeks, though no specific country list or timeline has been confirmed yet.

This is an important distinction for readers in Pakistan. As of now, there is no official confirmation that the Asha 305 will launch here, and no local price has been announced. Anyone claiming an exact Pakistan price at this stage is speculating rather than reporting confirmed information.

Here is a complete breakdown of what the HMD Asha 305 offers:

Why the Removable Battery Matters

Almost every smartphone released today comes with a sealed, non-removable battery. HMD choosing to include a removable 2,500mAh battery on the Asha 305 is a deliberate throwback, aimed at users who remember the convenience of swapping batteries instead of waiting for a charge.

For buyers in areas with unstable electricity or long working hours away from a charging point, this feature offers real practical value rather than just nostalgia. Carrying a spare charged battery can matter more than most spec sheets suggest.

Performance Expectations

With a Unisoc T137 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage, this phone is not built for gaming, multitasking, or heavy app usage. It is designed strictly for calling, texting, WhatsApp, light social media browsing, and basic internet use.

Buyers expecting smartphone-level performance at this price point should adjust expectations accordingly. This device competes with basic smartphones and upgraded feature phones, not with budget Android phones priced above Rs. 20,000.

Camera Quality

Both the rear and front cameras sit at 2MP, which is very basic by 2026 standards. Photos will be usable for simple sharing on WhatsApp or Facebook Lite, but do not expect detailed, sharp images similar to phones with 50MP sensors.

This is consistent with the phone’s overall positioning as a functional, budget-first device rather than a camera-focused one.

Battery Life

HMD claims the 2,500mAh removable battery can deliver up to 32 hours of standby time. Combined with the phone’s low-resolution display and lightweight chipset, this suggests the Asha 305 is built to last through a full day of basic use without needing frequent charging.

Could the HMD Asha 305 Launch in Pakistan?

HMD has a known presence in Pakistan through its other budget and mid-range phones, so a future Pakistan launch is realistic, though not officially confirmed. Entry-level phones like this typically appeal to first-time smartphone buyers, older users switching from keypad phones, and people looking for an affordable backup device.

If the Asha 305 does arrive in Pakistan, expect the local price to be adjusted based on import duties and currency conversion, likely landing somewhere higher than the direct dollar-to-rupee conversion of the Philippines price.

Conclusion

The HMD Asha 305 fills a specific gap that most 2026 phone launches ignore: an affordable, no-frills device with a removable battery for users who need basic smart features without complexity. It has officially launched in the Philippines at $65, and while a Pakistan launch has not been confirmed, HMD’s existing presence in the local market makes it a real possibility worth watching.
