If you searched “Sol Love Island,” you are probably trying to figure out who the Season 8 bombshell is beyond the villa drama. Sol Dean, who also goes by Sol Mýa, entered Love Island USA during Season 8 and quickly became part of one of the season’s most talked-about storylines.
Sol was introduced as a bombshell in Episode 6, where she immediately caught the attention of Sincere Rhea. Her arrival helped create a complicated triangle involving Sincere and his original connection, Melanie Moreno. Peacock later listed Sol as having entered in Episode 6 and leaving in Episode 14.
But there is more to Sol than her short-lived romance storyline. She is a model, waitress, singer and creative who had already been building a career in entertainment before appearing on reality television. Here’s what to know about Sol Mýa Dean, including her age, background, career and Love Island journey.
Who Is Sol From Love Island USA?
Sol Mýa Dean is a model and reality-TV personality from Orange, California. She currently lives in Los Angeles and has worked in modeling while also waitressing and working at a gym’s front desk.
Before appearing on Love Island USA, Sol had already developed an interest in fashion and entertainment. Her professional background includes runway, e-commerce and print modeling, while her creative interests extend into singing, songwriting, painting and other forms of art.
That background helps explain why Sol stood out when she entered the villa. Reality television was a new platform for her, but performing in front of people was not entirely unfamiliar.
How Old Is Sol From Love Island?
Sol was 24 years old when she appeared on Love Island USA Season 8. Peacock’s official Season 8 cast information lists her age as 24 and identifies her hometown as Orange, California, with Los Angeles as her current location.
Her age also places her among the younger adults in the Season 8 cast, but her career in modeling and creative work began well before her reality-TV debut.
Where Is Sol From?
Sol is from Orange, California, and later spent time living in Chicago before returning to California.
In a 2024 interview with Voyage LA, Sol explained that she moved to Chicago partly because she had extended family there. She used that period to pursue modeling, eventually working in runway, e-commerce and print before returning to California and continuing her entertainment career.
Today, her professional life is centered around Los Angeles.
What Does Sol Do for a Living?
Sol’s career is broader than simply being a Love Island contestant.
Sol’s modeling career
Modeling has been one of the biggest parts of Sol’s professional journey. According to her background information reported by TV Insider and Marie Claire, she was discovered after high school at the U.S. Open of Surfing and pursued agency representation.
She later spent time in Chicago working in the modeling industry before returning to California. Her work has included runway, e-commerce and print projects, and she has also worked with brands such as New Era.
Sol’s modeling career also helped introduce her to the entertainment world before Love Island gave her a much larger television audience.
Her music and creative interests
Sol has described herself as a creative rather than someone focused on just one discipline.
In her 2024 Voyage LA interview, she said she works in fashion modeling, painting, writing and singing. She also talked about writing her own music and credited her father, who was a poet, with helping encourage her creative side.
She said her interest in performing started when she was young, including school talent shows and creative performances with her brother.
That creative background is an important part of understanding Sol outside the Love Island storyline.
Sol’s Love Island USA Season 8 Journey
Sol entered the Love Island USA villa in Episode 6 alongside fellow bombshells Caleb McDaniel and Jen Terry. Her arrival immediately changed the romantic dynamics in the villa.
Rather than simply remaining on the sidelines, Sol pursued connections with several Islanders.
Her connection with Sincere Rhea
The biggest storyline involving Sol centered on Sincere Rhea and Melanie Moreno.
Sincere had been coupled with Melanie since the beginning of the season, but Sol’s arrival gave him another connection to explore. Sol and Sincere talked privately and kissed, creating tension between Sol, Sincere and Melanie.
America’s vote eventually resulted in Sol and Sincere being paired together, making their connection more than just a brief flirtation.
However, their relationship did not last. Sincere ultimately returned to Melanie, and the complicated triangle continued to affect the villa well after Sol’s departure.
The storyline remained relevant even during the Season 8 reunion, when Sol and Melanie revisited some of the tension surrounding their time in the villa.
Why was Sol eliminated from Love Island?
Sol’s time in the villa was relatively short.
Peacock lists her as entering in Episode 6 and leaving in Episode 14. During the elimination, the Islanders voted on who should leave, and Sol was ultimately selected.
Her exit came after she had already become one of the more recognizable bombshells of the season. Even though she did not make it to the finale, her storyline with Sincere gave her a significant role in the season’s early drama.
What Is Sol Doing After Love Island?
Sol’s Love Island journey ended, but her public profile continued after she left the villa.
Peacock’s reunion coverage listed Sol as saying that she was with someone and happy, although she did not publicly identify that person in the information provided by Peacock.
That is worth separating from speculation surrounding her Love Island relationships. Her connection with Sincere was part of the show, but her post-villa relationship status is a separate matter.
Sol has also continued to be associated with modeling and creative work. Her pre-Love Island background in fashion, music and entertainment gives her several potential paths beyond reality television.
For viewers who discovered her through the show, that may ultimately be the more interesting part of her story: Love Island introduced Sol to a much wider audience, but modeling and creativity were already part of her life before the villa.
